Dr. Nathaniel von Einsiedel has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of the Philippines-Diliman (1968), a master’s degree in Urban Planning from Columbia University (1971), and a PhD in Public Administration (Urban Management) from the Pacific Western University (2001).

Dr. von Einsiedel started work in the government in 1973 with the Task Force on Human Settlements, which later became the Human Settlements Commission in 1976 (Ministry of Human Settlements in 1979). During his years in the Human Settlements Commission, Dr. von Einsiedel was involved in several planning projects, including the Manila Bay Regional Development Plan and the Metro Manila Transport, Land Use and Development Planning Project (MMETROPLAN). He became the Commission’s Director for Urban Development before eventually shifting to the Human Settlements Development Corporation as Deputy General Manager from 1977 to 1979. Thereafter, Dr. von Einsiedel served as Commissioner for Planning in the Metropolitan Manila Commission from 1979 to 1989. After leaving government, he worked with the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements from 1990 to 2003. Dr. Nathaniel von Einsiedel is currently the Chairman and Principal Planner of Consultants for Comprehensive Environmental Planning, Inc. (Concep Inc), where he has been working since 2004.
